Beau Starr, Goodfellas and Halloween actor, dies at 81 after football-to-film career

Character actor Beau Starr has passed away at the age of 81. Born in New York City in 1944, he built a career spanning sports and entertainment before his peaceful death at home in Vancouver on April 24. Before acting, Starr played college football at Hofstra University. He later joined the New York Jets, marking the start of his professional sports career.

In his 30s, he shifted to acting, debuting in 1980 on the Canadian sketch comedy show *Bizarre*. His breakout role came in 1990 as Henry Hill’s father in *Goodfellas*. He also became known for playing Sheriff Ben Meeker in *Halloween 4* and *Halloween 5*. Starr’s final on-screen appearance was in 2013, guest-starring on an episode of *Psych*. His death was confirmed as natural causes.

Starr’s career bridged football and acting, leaving a mark in both fields. His roles in cult films and TV shows remain part of his legacy. He is survived by memories of his work across four decades.
