Arbat Star boxing tournament awards record 4.5M rubles in Magadan Oblast

The Arbat Star boxing tournament has wrapped up in Palatka, Magadan Oblast, drawing over 160 athletes from across the region. Organisers awarded a combined prize fund of more than 4.5 million rubles, making it one of the most lucrative local events this year. The competition was launched by Alexander Basanansky, Vice Speaker of the Magadan Regional Duma. He secured a professional-grade ring for the event—the first of its kind in the oblast—ensuring high standards for all bouts.

Both newcomers and experienced fighters took part in the tournament. Every participant received 10,000 rubles, regardless of whether they won or lost their matches. Fifteen boxers also earned special recognition from Basanansky, each collecting an extra 30,000-ruble bonus. The top honours went to Ivan Meleshin and Yekaterina Protopop, who claimed the *Golden Glove of Arbat* and 500,000 rubles each in the men’s and women’s divisions. Sergey Goncharenko, head of the A. Lebedyak Boxing School, later spoke about the tournament’s role in boosting regional sports development.

With a record prize pool and wide participation, the Arbat Star tournament has set a new benchmark for boxing in Magadan Oblast. The event’s success highlights growing support for local athletes and the sport’s expanding reach in the region.
