WWE WrestleMania 42 backlash grows as fans slam weak storylines and Pat McAfee's role

Despite major criticism and backlash from fans leading to WWE WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Triple H's position as the promotion's Chief Content Officer seems to remain safe. The lead-up to this year's WrestleMania 42 was publicly called out on social media as poor and less exciting. The involvement of Pat McAfee also became a major concern and source of criticism among fans. In addition to the poor storylines at this year's WrestleMania 42, ticket sales were considerably lower at the same venue than last year. In a report by Post Wrestling, WWE President Nick Khan recently addressed Triple H as the head of creative during an employee town hall on Monday. The report further indicates that Khan was adamant that the complaints they have heard from WWE fans belong to a minority of their fanbase. According to reports, Nick Khan looked over messages from 2015 that shared similar negative feedback and stated that the criticisms from a vocal minority should not be viewed as a reliable indicator. The Post Wrestling report noted that Khan confirmed Triple H's current position in WWE. The report did not clarify whether Triple H was given a formal contract extension with the company or not. Later, Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp noted that it was 'heavily implied' to him that Levesque had signed a new long-term contract with WWE. Just days after WrestleMania 42, after reports revealed Nick Khan and other top TKO executives' massive earnings, WWE also released their post- WrestleMania roster cuts that included several top names.
