Wiesbaden Tennis Open 2026 begins with blockbuster first-round clashes

The Wiesbaden Tennis Open (WTO) 2026, part of the ITF World Tennis Tour, launches its first-round main-draw matches on Sunday, April 26, in the Kurpark district of Wiesbaden. Starting at 10:00 AM, the courts will buzz with a tightly packed schedule, leaving little room for breaks and setting early momentum in the tournament.

Centre Court: Top Seed Faces Underdog

The action on Centre Court opens with Romania's Maria Sara Popa taking on Croatia's Tena Lukas (No. 14)—a classic clash between an underdog and a seeded player, where the first to seize control could dictate the match's tempo.

Elsewhere, Elina Avanesyan (No. 7) battles Germany's Tayisiya Morderger, while Milena Steinkamp faces Caijsa Wilda Hennemann (No. 9). Erika Andreeva will also test her skills against Nika Radisic, as the mix of favorites and challengers unfolds across all courts.

Morning Session: Tight Matches Ahead

The lineup features Tereza Martincová (No. 3) against Valentina Steiner, Michaela Bayerlová versus Angelina Voloshchuk (No. 11), and a highlight match: Elizara Yaneva (No. 2) against Germany's Laura Böhner, offering strong prospects for a home-crowd upset.

Other key encounters include Luisa Schruff versus Mina Hodžić (No. 13), Amarissa Kiara Toth (No. 5) against Victoria Pohle, and top seed Jeline Vandromme facing Rasheeda McAdoo. The all-German duel between Yana Morderger and Emily Seibold (No. 16) promises an unpredictable finish.

Afternoon: Shifting Dynamics in the Draw

The schedule continues with Tamila Gadamauri against Lisa Zaar (No. 10), followed by Margaux Rouvroy (No. 6) versus Julia Stusek, Fiona Pradt taking on Isabella Shinikova (No. 12), and Carolin Raschdorf battling Lucija Ćirić Bagarić (No. 15).

The day concludes with Sada Nahimana (No. 4) facing Ukraine's Polina Skliar, capping off an opening round defined by high stakes, closely contested matches, and few clear favorites.
