WEX and Extend partner to embed virtual cards in SAP Concur payments
WEX has teamed up with Extend to bring embedded virtual card payments to SAP Concur solutions. The partnership aims to simplify invoice handling and speed up supplier payments. Businesses using WEX corporate cards can now connect their accounts directly to Concur Invoice for seamless transactions. The integration allows WEX customers to link their commercial accounts to Concur Invoice. Once an invoice arrives, the system automatically creates a single-use virtual card tied to the customer’s WEX account. Each card includes predefined controls, such as spend limits, expiry dates, and invoice references.
Virtual cards are becoming central to accounts payable (AP) digitisation. They enable automated payment processing, approvals, and reconciliation. The use of tokenised, single-use credentials also reduces fraud risks compared to traditional payment methods.
Extend provides the underlying infrastructure that connects card networks, banks, and business applications. This setup lets financial institutions add new payment features without complex technical work. Carlos Carriedo, Chief Operating Officer at WEX, highlighted that the partnership gives businesses precise control over every transaction.
Andrew Jamison, CEO and co-founder of Extend, noted that WEX is a trusted name in corporate payments. He added that the collaboration reflects the industry’s growing shift towards embedded payment solutions. The new integration streamlines invoice settlement, cuts manual processes, and improves payment visibility. Suppliers benefit from faster payments, while businesses gain tighter control over transactions. The partnership reinforces the trend of embedding virtual cards into financial workflows.
