Vladivostok ends heating season early to kickstart critical repairs
Vladivostok's heating season will end on May 4, 2024, the city's Fuel and Energy Complex Department announced, according to a statement from the municipal administration's press service.
Deputy Mayor Roman Chernyavsky explained that the shutdown date complies with federal regulations, which require heating to be turned off only after the average daily temperature exceeds +8°C for five consecutive days. Forecasts from Primhydromet, the regional meteorological center, indicate that these conditions will be met by May 4.
Immediately after the shutdown, hydraulic tests of the heating networks will begin, with the results used to adjust repair schedules. Preparations for the 2026–2027 heating season are already underway: testing timelines have been approved, contracts are being finalized for equipment upgrades, and the replacement of worn-out sections of heating mains and water pipes.
A reminder: Vladivostok plans to repair 16 kilometers of pipelines in 2026. Some of the sites slated for overhaul this year have already been identified, including Goraya Street, as well as network replacements on Svetlanskaya, Davydova, Vikova, and Narodny Prospect.
