Vizinhos debuts first album Só Se Estraga Uma Casa after viral success
Portuguese quartet Vizinhos is preparing to release their first album, Só Se Estraga Uma Casa, on May 8. The band, fronted by vocalist and accordionist David Mendonça, has quickly gained attention since forming in late 2024. Their sudden rise to fame followed the success of their debut single, Por do Sol, which amassed millions of streams online. The group first came together in Évora, a city in Portugal’s Alentejo region. Mendonça and his bandmates have often spoken about their deep ties to the area, expressing pride in its cultural influence on their music. Their connection to Alentejo even extends to friendships with local artists like Bandidos do Cante and Buba Espinho.
The accordion plays a central role in Vizinhos’ sound, something Mendonça has highlighted in interviews. He also opened up about the challenges of fame, including the loss of privacy that came with their rapid success. One standout moment for him was learning he had become a father—right in the middle of a concert in Borba. Fans can hear more from the band in a recent interview on the 279th episode of *BLITZ*’s podcast. Live performances are also on the horizon, with shows scheduled at Porto’s Coliseu on November 21 and Lisbon’s Coliseu on November 28.
The album Só Se Estraga Uma Casa marks a major milestone for Vizinhos, who formed less than a year ago. Their debut single already proved their appeal, and the upcoming tour will bring their music to larger audiences. The band’s story—rooted in Alentejo and shaped by unexpected moments—continues to unfold as they step into the spotlight.
