Vietnamese border guards rescue ten Chinese fishermen in stormy seas

Vietnamese border guards have rescued ten Chinese fishermen after two separate incidents near Bạch Long Vĩ island. The operations took place over two days, with crews stranded due to engine failures in rough weather. Both groups received immediate medical care and support upon rescue.

The first rescue began on Monday when the Hải Phòng Border Guard Command spotted a Chinese fishing vessel, numbered 14106, stranded on rocks near the island. Four crew members were safely brought ashore by the Bạch Long Vĩ Border Guard Station. The damaged boat was secured at the incident site, anchored in place while authorities waited for improved weather to continue recovery efforts.

By Tuesday, a second Chinese vessel, **13377**, was found adrift with six crew members on board. The border guard team successfully towed the boat to Bạch Long Vĩ harbour by noon. All ten rescued fishermen were provided with medical treatment, food, clothing, and temporary shelter on the island. Both vessels had suffered engine failures caused by severe weather, forcing them into Vietnamese waters. The operations reflect ongoing efforts to uphold maritime safety and humanitarian standards in the region.

The successful rescues highlight Vietnam’s adherence to international maritime laws and its commitment to humanitarian assistance. The ten Chinese crew members remain under care while authorities assess further steps for the damaged vessels.
