Tractor and car collide near Wathlingen, blocking major roadway

On February 16, 2026, at 5:26 p.m., the Wathlingen Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched alongside the Nienhagen Volunteer Fire Department, police, and Celle district emergency medical services to the scene of a traffic collision involving a car and a tractor, with initial reports indicating a person trapped inside.

Upon arrival, emergency responders fortunately found that no one was trapped in the vehicle. The individual involved was attended to by first responders until paramedics arrived.

Meanwhile, the scene was secured, and the road toward Eicklingen was fully closed to traffic. After a short time, one lane was reopened to allow controlled passage around the accident site.

During the operation, the roadway proved extremely slippery, creating an elevated risk of further accidents. As a result, a passing truck became stuck near the scene. The tractor involved in the original collision assisted by pulling the truck free.

After approximately an hour and a half, operations concluded, and emergency crews returned to the fire station.
