Syktyvkar's Student Wave Opens Monthly Stage for Young Artists on May 14

Syktyvkar will host Student Wave, an open-mic event for young artists, on May 14. The evening promises live music, poetry, comedy, and dance—all on a stage open to anyone who wants to perform. Organisers have also planned gaming, board games, and a film screening for attendees. The event runs from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at 72 Pervomayskaya Street, on the fourth floor. It is part of Your Move, a nationwide student initiative, and is backed by the Komi Republic’s Ministry of Youth Policy, the Komi Youth Resource Center, and the Dance Federation of the Komi Republic. Their goal is to create a space where young people can share their talents and connect with others.

Unlike a one-off gathering, *Student Wave* will now take place every month. The project aligns with broader efforts to support youth creativity in the region. Rostislav Goldstein, head of the Komi Republic, has highlighted talent development as a priority, in line with Russia’s Youth and Children national project. Attendees can expect more than just performances. Alongside the open-mic acts, there will be board games, video games, console gaming, and a film screening. The mix of activities aims to bring students together in a relaxed, creative setting.

The event offers young creatives a regular platform to showcase their skills and meet like-minded peers. With monthly editions planned, Student Wave looks set to become a staple in Syktyvkar’s cultural calendar. Organisers hope it will strengthen ties among students while encouraging artistic expression across the Komi Republic.
