United Airlines expands TravelBank with new credit card perks for MileagePlus members
United Airlines has expanded its TravelBank programme, offering MileagePlus members new ways to earn and use funds for flights. The scheme works like a digital wallet, letting travellers store cash for future bookings on United and United Express services.
Several co-branded credit cards now provide TravelBank credits as part of their rewards, giving passengers extra flexibility when paying for airfare. The United TravelBank system allows MileagePlus members to buy and store funds in fixed amounts. Purchases can be made in denominations of $50, $100, $250, $500, $750, or $1,000. Once deposited, the money remains valid for five years from the issue date.
Funds can be used to book flights for the account holder or others, covering tickets on United and United Express routes. However, travellers must redeem the cash before it expires to avoid losing the balance.
Different United credit cards now include TravelBank credits as perks. The United Quest Card gives $200 in TravelBank cash after opening an account and another $200 each year on the account anniversary. The United Business Card offers $125 in TravelBank funds after making five United flight-related purchases. Meanwhile, the United Explorer Card provides $100 in TravelBank cash once a cardholder spends $10,000 on purchases in a calendar year. The updated TravelBank programme gives MileagePlus members more options for managing flight costs. By earning credits through card spending or direct purchases, passengers can store funds for up to five years. The system applies to both personal and group bookings on United’s network.
