Title Race Drama at Helfort-Platz: Wienerberg Edges Closer to Sixth Vienna City League Crown

A potential turning point in the battle for the Vienna City League title unfolded at Helfort-Platz in Ottakring this weekend. League leaders SV Wienerberg traveled to face second-placed SV Dinamo Helfort, with around 500 spectators at Kendlerstraße treated to a goal-fest.

Wienerberg made a dream start, racing to a 2-0 lead in just nine minutes before extending it further in the 30th. Emre Yilmaz pulled one back for the overwhelmed hosts just before halftime, making it 1-3 at the break. Helfort shook off their first-half stupor after the restart, with Yilmaz striking again early in the second period, and Marco Sahanek leveling the score in the 58th minute. The stadium erupted as the home side pushed for the lead.

But in this wild seven-goal thriller, it was league leaders Wienerberg who had the final say—Christoph Hüttmair netting the winner in the 82nd minute. SV Wienerberg now hold a ten-point lead over Vienna's amateur side, while Helfort remain stuck in third, well off the pace. With ten rounds left, all signs point to Wienerberg claiming their sixth Vienna City League title.
