Shakhtar Donetsk secures 16th league title with crushing 4-0 victory

Shakhtar Donetsk has clinched its 16th Ukrainian Premier League title after a dominant 4-0 win over Poltava. The victory secures the championship with three matchdays still left in the season. The team now sits 11 points clear at the top of the table with 66 points. Shakhtar took the lead just before half-time when Dmytro Kryskiv scored in the 45+3rd minute. The momentum continued in the second half, with Lassina Traoré netting twice in quick succession—first in the 55th minute, then again in the 61st. Isaac added a fourth goal in the 67th minute, sealing the comprehensive win.

This marks Shakhtar’s third league title in the last four years. Despite trailing Dynamo Kyiv’s record of 17 championships, the team has firmly established itself as a powerhouse in Ukrainian football. Poltava, currently second in the standings with 55 points, remains far behind in the race for the title. The victory confirms Shakhtar’s dominance this season, extending their unbeaten run in the league. With three games remaining, the team will now focus on finishing the campaign strongly. The 16th title further cements their status as one of Ukraine’s most successful clubs.
