Princess Margriet of the Netherlands is currently in Ottawa for a week-long visit. The trip includes meetings with Canadian officials, cultural events, and a personal return to her birthplace in the city. The princess began her visit by attending the Canadian Tulip Festival over the weekend. She also took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Canadian War Museum, where she viewed an exhibit on the liberation of the Netherlands during the Second World War.

During her stay, she met with Prime Minister Mark Carney and Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe. The Dutch royal also attended events hosted by Dutch Ambassador Margriet Vonno and Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand.
