Primorsky Krai declares war on deadly traffic hotspots by September deadline

Nine municipalities in Primorsky Krai have been flagged for their high rates of traffic accidents. Vladivostok tops the list, recording both the highest number of incidents and the most severe crashes. Authorities are now taking steps to tackle the problem across the region. The initiative targets dangerous road sections in Vladivostok, Ussuriysk, Nakhodka, Nadezhdinsky, Artemovsky, Arsenyevsky, Spassky, Lesozavodsky, and Bolshoy Kamen. Special focus will be placed on accident hotspots in Lesozavodsk, Nakhodka, and Ussuriysk. Local governments, working with traffic police, must propose and enforce safety measures by September 15.

The Primorsky Krai Transport Ministry will analyse accident data every month to track progress. Kirill Khizhinsky, deputy chairman of the regional government, will oversee the implementation of these changes. The goal is to systematically reduce crashes by eliminating high-risk areas. Officials have not yet detailed specific safety improvements but stress the urgency of the situation. The measures come after a review of traffic incidents revealed persistent dangers in these locations.

The new plan requires local authorities to act quickly. By mid-September, they must submit and enforce solutions for hazardous roads. Regular monitoring will determine whether the changes lead to fewer accidents in the region.
