Omsk Hosts 2026 Golden Mask Awards in Historic Cultural Shift

The event was announced by Vladimir Mashkov, president of the award and festival and chairman of the Russian Union of Theatre Workers.

Established in 1993 by the Union of Theatre Workers of Russia, the Golden Mask honors outstanding achievements across all genres of theatrical art.

This year's festival lineup features 67 productions from cities nationwide—including Samara, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Omsk, Novosibirsk, Sevastopol, Kazan, Vladivostok, Ufa, Krasnoyarsk, Tyumen, and Yekaterinburg. Most will be staged in Moscow, while 12 will tour regional venues due to technical constraints. A professional jury will evaluate the performances during the festival, which runs through June 10.

Omsk holds the title of Russia's Cultural Capital in 2026, with the Golden Mask ceremony serving as one of the year's landmark events.
