Kalles Band reunites for a free concert at St. Laurentius Church in 2026
Kalles Band Returns with Jazz, Swing, and Blues on April 19, 2026
On April 19, 2026, Kalles Band will make a triumphant return to the venue where they performed in October 2017 and at the 2018 community festival.
Starting at 5 p.m., the five band members will fill St. Laurentius Church in Schweina with the sounds of guitar, bass, stage piano, drums, keyboard, and Hammond organ—along with, of course, their vocals. Admission is free.
The musicians do, however, encourage donations to support the church congregation. "Back then," recalls Heide Lochner at the stage piano, "our first performance in October 2017 packed the church—old friends and fans from our youth filled every seat."
Years have passed since then, and everyone has grown older. Lochner hopes that this Sunday, they'll once again welcome and captivate a large crowd of music lovers. With a playful wink, she admits: "We're curious ourselves to see who we can still coax out from behind the stove."
Over 50 Years of Musical Passion
Band leader Karl Aschenbach (Kalle) on guitar and vocals, Volker Trautvetter on bass, and Klaus Müller on drums have been making music together since their youth.
From the late 1960s onward, they lit up dance floors across the region—and beyond national borders—in various rock and blues bands.
In the summer of 2017, Heide Lochner joined on stage piano and vocals, and since last year, the lineup has been strengthened by another seasoned musician, Eberhard Mäurer, who plays keyboard, the original Hammond organ, and sings.
"We rehearse regularly," Lochner shares, "and our passion for music hasn't faded one bit."
