NHL fines two players for dangerous playoff incidents

The NHL has fined two players following separate incidents in recent playoff games. Arber Xhekaj of Montreal and Beck Malenstyn of Washington both received penalties for dangerous plays. The fines will support the league’s emergency assistance fund. Xhekaj was penalised for roughing Buffalo’s Sam Carrick during Game 3 of their series. He received a two-minute minor and a $3,385.42 fine. Montreal currently leads the best-of-five matchup 2-1 after the victory.

Game 4 is scheduled for Tuesday night at the Bell Centre, where the Canadiens will aim to extend their advantage.

Meanwhile, Malenstyn was fined $3,515.63 for colliding with New York Rangers goaltender Jakub Dobes. The incident also resulted in a minor penalty. Both fines follow standard NHL disciplinary procedures. The money from both penalties will go to the NHL/NHLPA players’ emergency assistance fund. Xhekaj and Malenstyn will remain eligible for their teams’ next games. The league’s disciplinary process has now concluded for these incidents.
