Uralsk Launches Production of Couplings for Casing and Tubing Pipes
New QazExpoCentre-Pipe workshop boosts oil and gas production with API-certified couplings
A new workshop has opened at the QazExpoCentre-Pipe plant, which now manufactures couplings for casing and tubing pipes used in drilling, operation, and major overhauls of oil and gas wells.
The domestic enterprise has been operating successfully since 2007. Today, its production capacity reaches 40,000 tons of pipe products annually, primarily supplied to major companies in Kazakhstan's oil and gas sector.
Last year, up to 15% of its output was exported to neighboring countries, confirming compliance with industry standards and the demands of international customers. High quality is ensured by modern automated production lines and annual certification from the American Petroleum Institute (API). The plant has also implemented a QR code system for all products, allowing quality tracking at every stage of manufacturing.
"Couplings for casing and tubing pipes are in demand both domestically and abroad," says Alexander Bezrukov, the company's CEO. "Our new line produces items with diameters ranging from 60 mm to 245 mm."
The workshop was established by renovating an existing building and acquiring state-of-the-art equipment, including German-made threading machines and a Japanese robotic workcell. Despite minimal manual labor, the expansion has created 58 new jobs, bringing the plant's total workforce to around 300 employees.
In the future, the company plans to launch another production unit for applying specialized anti-corrosion coatings, significantly extending the service life of its products.
The opening of new facilities not only boosts tax revenues and creates jobs but also reflects the region's growing investment appeal. As noted by Nariman Turegaliev, the regional governor, while last year's investments totaled 847 billion tenge, this year's target is 1.05 trillion tenge, with a focus on expanding the manufacturing sector.
