Mainz's Summer in the City Festival Unveils Star-Studded 2026 Lineup

This summer, Mainz will once again become a vibrant open-air stage, with Summer in the City delivering its signature eclectic mix in 2026. Alongside national and international headliners, this year's festival places a special emphasis on fresh formats and standout concert highlights, making the season richer and more dynamic than ever.

A standout feature is Guude! – The mainzgefühl Summer Festival on June 13, which celebrates regional identity at its core. Here, live music from Mainz's Carnival scene—featuring acts like Die Humbas, Handkäs un sei Mussig, the Mainzer Hofsänger, and Hollebutz—blends with Rhenish-Hessian charm and a laid-back, convivial atmosphere. The lineup leans into familiar, sing-along sounds that resonate across generations, fostering a sense of shared experience—unpretentious, welcoming, and infused with that unique mix of enjoyment, music, and connection that defines the mainzgefühl.

For a bold contrast, High Root Open Air X Summer in the City on June 26 caters to fans of electronic music and contemporary club culture. The event brings global DJs like Milk & Sugar, Tom Novy, and The Disco Boys to the stage, delivering cutting-edge sounds under the open sky. With top-tier production, crisp audio aesthetics, and festival-worthy drama, it creates an immersive night tailored to an urban, music-savvy crowd. High Root adds a high-energy, dance-driven dimension to the program, underscoring the series' stylistic versatility.

Pop enthusiasts will revel in the performance by No Angels on June 18, as Germany's most successful girl group returns with their TwentyFive Live tour, packing the night with nostalgia and electrifying energy.

International soul takes center stage on June 20, when Joss Stone graces the Zitadelle with her powerhouse vocals and magnetic stage presence. A standout artist in her genre, she promises an atmospheric evening bridging classic soul and modern pop.

For a breezy, uplifting pop vibe, Natasha Bedingfield performs on June 23, bringing global anthems like "Unwritten" and "These Words"—her infectious melodies and positive energy make for the perfect open-air concert in the Zitadelle's stunning setting.

The Summer in the City lineup also includes a range of other concerts to round out the experience: Element of Crime kicks things off on June 6 at Mainz's KUZ Kulturzentrum, followed by Deine Freunde on June 12 at the Zitadelle. Rock fans can look forward to Foreigner on June 14, while Garbage on June 27 delivers their cult-favorite alternative rock. The grand finale features German superstar Nina Chuba on July 16 at Volkspark.

What sets Summer in the City apart is its blend of world-class acts, innovative event formats, and extraordinary venues. The historic walls of the Zitadelle lend a dramatic backdrop, while Volkspark provides ample space for a spectacular concert night. Once again, Mainz will become a summer hub for music lovers—offering a program that seamlessly weaves tradition with fresh inspiration.
