Lost cat travels 24 km under a car before miraculous reunion
A cat from Braintree, England, has been safely returned to its owner after an unexpected 24-kilometre journey trapped under a car. The reunion came four days after Olaf, the adventurous feline, went missing from home. Olaf’s ordeal began when he somehow became lodged beneath a vehicle near his home. Unaware of the stowaway, the driver travelled roughly 24 kilometres before arriving at work. The cat only emerged when the car reached its destination and parked.
Abigail Harrison, deputy manager at a local Cats Protection centre, discovered the disoriented but unharmed animal in the parking lot. A quick scan of Olaf’s microchip revealed his owner’s details, leading to Hazel Ohler. After a veterinary check confirmed he was in good health, the pair were finally reunited. The incident highlights the importance of microchipping pets, which made it possible to trace Olaf back to Ohler. Both cat and owner are now recovering from the ordeal, with Olaf showing no lasting effects from his unusual trip.
