Late-Night Carport Fire in Lage Destroys Ford Fiesta and Challenges Firefighters
Fire Brigade in Lage Responds to Carport Fire on Käthe-Kollwitz-Straße
On January 29, 2026, at 11:29 p.m., firefighters in Lage were alerted to a carport blaze on Käthe-Kollwitz-Straße. Upon arrival, crews found a Ford Fiesta parked under the carport fully engulfed in flames, with the structure itself already on fire.
Two fire teams in breathing apparatus immediately deployed with C-hose reels to combat the fire. Their swift action successfully prevented the flames from spreading to a neighboring hedge and a nearby pavilion. The blaze was quickly brought under control, and the car and carport were fully extinguished.
Units from Hagen and Pottenhausen, along with Lage Fire Brigade's on-duty crew, responded to the incident. Police were also on scene and have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
Operations were hampered by icy road conditions due to snowfall, which delayed the arrival of emergency crews. Additionally, locating a hydrant proved difficult because of the snow cover. However, thanks to a local resident's knowledge of the area, a suitable hydrant was quickly found.
