Lane Hutson breaks Canadiens' record with 62 assists in a season

Montreal Canadiens blueliner Lane Hutson turned in yet another impressive performance in the NHL regular season, achieving a significant statistical milestone. In a 3–1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes, the 22-year-old defenseman recorded two assists.

With those helpers, Hutson brought his season assist total to 62, setting a new personal best.

This accomplishment moved him into third place in Canadiens history for most assists in a single regular season by a defenseman. The only Montreal blueliner ahead of him is Larry Robinson, who tallied 66 assists in the 1976–77 season and 63 in 1985–86. In addition to his 62 assists, Hutson has also scored 11 goals so far this campaign.
