Khabarovsk Transforms Into a Citywide Stage for Theater Train Festival
Khabarovsk is set to become a lively theatrical centre on 13 May 2023. The Theater Train’s arrival will kick off a series of performances across the city, turning streets and venues into stages. Festivities begin with a special show at the train station before spreading to theatres and outdoor spaces.
The celebrations start at 2:00 PM on the station platform with a performance of Terkin Lives!. A military band from the Eastern Military District will then welcome the train with a formal ceremony.
Near the Drama Theater, local actors will take the stage for a concert called *We Are Together*. Meanwhile, the Primorsky Regional Youth Theater will present *Once Upon a Time...* at the Khabarovsk Youth Theater. Later that evening, the puppet theater will perform *Petrushka at War*. On 14 May, the outdoor venue *The Cliff*, opposite the Muravyov-Amursky monument, will host a staging of *Ulga*. The Theater Train’s next destination is Novy Urgal, where it arrives on 17 May. There, the Khabarovsk Musical Theater will perform *Russian Secret*, and the puppet theater will present *A Fairy Tale in a Suitcase*.
The event will fill Khabarovsk with plays, concerts, and street performances over two days. Residents and visitors can attend free shows at stations, theatres, and public squares. After the city’s programme ends, the Theater Train continues its journey to Novy Urgal for further performances.
