Kazakhstan gears up for a global sports showcase across its cities

A wave of world-class tournaments is coming to Kazakhstan. Discover how Almaty, Astana, and other cities are transforming into hubs for Olympic dreams and digital-age sports.

Kazakhstan gears up for a global sports showcase across its cities

Major competitions will take place in Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, Turkestan, Talgar, and Aktau, covering winter and summer Olympic and Paralympic sports.

Immediately after the conclusion of the Winter Olympics in Milan, Italy, Almaty will host a Freestyle Moguls World Cup stage, the FIP Gold Almaty international padel tournament, the KazOpen international karate tournament, and the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship across all age groups.

Additionally, Almaty will traditionally welcome the 34th G. Kosanov Memorial international athletics competition and the Denis Ten Memorial Challenge Series international figure skating tournament.

Astana will also be a hub for major international events. Fans can look forward to the 2025/2026 UEFA Futsal Champions League final and the Grand Slam judo tournament, now in its fourth edition in Kazakhstan's capital. The city will also host the Silk Way Series Kazakhstan-1,2 men's and women's international competitions, World Cup stages in swimming and bowling, the Junior World Goalball Championship, and the Astana Open Series Kazakhstan-1,2 tournaments.

Of particular note is Astana's hosting of the "Games of the Future" international multisport phygital tournament.

Talgar will stage a leg of the Asian Cup in multi-day cycling, Shymkent will host ISSF World Cup stages in shotgun shooting and the Asian Cup in mountain biking (MTB), while Turkestan will welcome the Asian Paracanoe Championship.

Notably, Kazakhstan hosted around 30 international competitions of various levels in 2025.
