Kanye West and Travis Scott concerts axed in Italy over safety fears

Two major concerts featuring Kanye West and Travis Scott have been cancelled at Italy’s RCF Arena. The events, scheduled for July 17 and 18 in Reggio Emilia, were called off due to public safety concerns. Authorities acted under Italy’s Public Security Law (TULPS). The RCF Arena, which can hold around 100,000 spectators, was set to host the performances. However, local officials intervened, citing risks to public order. This decision follows a pattern of cancellations across Europe, including in Poland, Switzerland, and the UK.

Kanye West has faced widespread criticism for antisemitic remarks, leading to multiple concert scrappings. The UK’s refusal to grant him entry also forced the cancellation of a planned show in Marseille. Meanwhile, Travis Scott remains under scrutiny after the 2021 Astroworld Festival tragedy, where 10 people died. Despite these setbacks, West’s tour still includes a confirmed show in Istanbul, with additional dates expected in the Netherlands.

The cancellations highlight ongoing concerns over safety and public sentiment. Both artists now face further uncertainty as organisers assess risks for future events. The RCF Arena’s decision aligns with broader European actions to mitigate potential disturbances.
