Calgary Flames Sign Forward Jonathan Castagna to Entry-Level Contract
Jonathan Castagna inks three-year deal with Calgary Flames after Utah trade
The Calgary Flames have signed forward Jonathan Castagna to a three-year, entry-level contract, the NHL club announced Monday.
The deal carries an average annual value of US$1.075 million and will start in the 2026-27 season.
Castagna will join the American Hockey League's Calgary Wranglers on a professional tryout contract for the remainder of this season.
The 20-year-old from Toronto, had a team-leading 34 points (15 goals, 19 assists) in 34 NCAA games with Cornell this season.
He earned a spot on the All-ECAC First Team and was named the conference's top defensive forward.
Castagna, who is out day-to-day with a lower-body injury was acquired by Calgary from Utah on March 4 in a trade that sent defenceman MacKenzie Weegar to the Mammoth.
The Mammoth (then the Arizona Coyotes) selected Castagna in the third round, 70th overall, of the 2023 NHL draft.
