Wesendorf: Cyclist Injured in Hit-and-Run, Police Seek Witnesses
Hit-and-run leaves cyclist injured in Wesendorf after evening collision
Police in Wesendorf received an emergency call on Wednesday evening reporting a traffic accident in which a cyclist was injured. A 23-year-old woman alerted authorities at around 7:45 p.m. that her brother had been struck by a car.
Officers immediately responded to the scene at the playground on Veilchenweg, where they found the caller's 35-year-old brother. The man stated that he had been cycling when a vehicle collided with him, causing him to fall. The driver fled the scene without stopping. After the crash, he pushed his bike to the playground and contacted his sister.
Police Appeal for Information
The cyclist was unable to specify the exact time or location of the accident. A breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.93 per mille. Due to a shoulder injury, he was taken to the hospital. Authorities are now asking for witnesses who may have seen the incident around 7:25 p.m. in the northern Blumenviertel district or near the playground on Veilchenweg.
