Region: A Long Weekend Ahead
Extended weekend forecast: Frost warnings followed by near-summer heat
The region is gearing up for an extended weekend, and those lucky enough to have three days off can look forward to a packed schedule of events. But will the weather hold up? We reveal the forecast in our article.
The region will kick off Thursday, April 30, with stark temperature contrasts: while sunshine will break through early in many areas, nights will remain chilly. In the southern and central regions, localized frost is possible overnight into Thursday. The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued a frost warning for Gifhorn, Goslar, Salzgitter, and Wolfenbüttel from midnight to 8 AM, with light frost down to -1°C expected.
Plenty of Sun and Spring-Like Temperatures
By day, however, pleasant weather will quickly take hold. Braunschweig, Wolfenbüttel, and Helmstedt will see highs of around 16°C on Thursday, while Peine, Salzgitter, Gifhorn, and Wolfsburg will mostly reach 18°C. Even at the edge of the Harz Mountains in Goslar, conditions will stay comfortable with ample sunshine and temperatures around 17°C.
Perfect Holiday Weather
May 1 will bring near-ideal holiday weather across the entire region. From Peine to Braunschweig and Helmstedt, sunshine will dominate, pushing temperatures to 21–22°C. Gifhorn and Wolfsburg will also hit around 21°C, while Goslar will enjoy a warm and sunny start to May with roughly 22°C.
The warmest stretch arrives on Saturday, May 2, with near-summer heat in most areas. The Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel-Peine-Salzgitter-Goslar region can expect highs of 26°C, while Gifhorn, Wolfsburg, and Helmstedt will be just slightly cooler at around 25°C. Cloud cover will increase, however, shifting from clear skies to a mix of clouds and sunny spells.
On Sunday, May 3, the weather remains warm and largely pleasant, with temperatures hovering around 24°C across the region. Sunshine will persist, though occasional clouds may drift through. No significant drop in temperatures is expected through Sunday.
