Hiker's body found in Glacier National Park after suspected bear attack

The body of a missing hiker, Anthony Pollio, has been discovered in Glacier National Park, Montana. The 33-year-old from Davie, Florida was found two-and-a-half miles up the Mt. Brown Trail, around 50 feet off the path. His injuries suggest an encounter with a bear.

Meanwhile, two hikers were attacked by a bear at Yellowstone National Park on Monday, leaving both with serious wounds. Anthony Pollio had been reported missing before search teams located his remains. His belongings were found scattered roughly 2.5 miles from the trailhead. Officials noted deep cuts across his body, matching injuries typically caused by bears.

The section of the Mt. Brown Trail where Pollio’s body was discovered has now been closed. Authorities are assessing the area for bear activity and potential risks to public safety.

At Yellowstone National Park, two hikers suffered injuries in a separate bear attack earlier this week. Craig Lerman, a tourist visiting from Maryland, assisted one of the wounded individuals before rescue teams arrived.

Investigations into both incidents remain ongoing. The closure of the Mt. Brown Trail will stay in place until further notice. The discovery of Pollio’s remains follows a search effort after his disappearance. His death marks the second bear-related incident in the region this week, with Yellowstone’s attack occurring just days prior. Park officials continue to monitor wildlife activity to prevent further risks to visitors.
