Arapahoe Basin extends ski season after surprise Colorado snowstorm
Arapahoe Basin ski resort has extended its season after heavy snowfall hit Colorado’s mountains. The recent storms dumped up to two feet of snow in some areas, giving skiers and snowboarders extra days on the slopes. The resort received 9 inches of fresh snow during the latest storm. Thanks to its high elevation and the unexpected snowfall, management decided to keep lifts running longer than planned.
Arapahoe Basin will temporarily close from May 11 to May 14. It will then reopen for a final weekend, operating from May 15 to May 17. Visitors can use their Ikon Passes or purchase lift tickets for $39 during the closing weekend.
Snow totals across Colorado’s mountains varied widely. Some locations saw just a few inches, while others recorded over two feet of accumulation. The extra snow has allowed the resort to stretch its season further into spring. The extended season gives winter sports fans a last chance to enjoy the slopes. With affordable ticket options and fresh snow, Arapahoe Basin’s closing weekend is set to draw crowds before the resort shuts down for the summer.
