Fredericksburg's Albert Hotel Blends History with Modern Luxury
A new boutique hotel has opened in historic downtown Fredericksburg, Texas. Named the Albert Hotel, it honours Albert Keidel, a local architect and preservationist. The project blends modern comfort with the town’s rich heritage. The hotel stands on the former site of the Keidel family pharmacy and homestead. The Keidels have been part of Fredericksburg since 1847, and their original home remains preserved within the new development. Nearby, the historic White Elephant Saloon has also been carefully restored.
Clayton Korte led the design in collaboration with New Waterloo. Their plans incorporated materials and landscaping inspired by the Texas Hill Country. VEI Consulting Engineers provided full engineering support throughout the project. Joeris General Contractors handled construction, delivering a 105-room hotel. Guests will find three restaurants, two bars, and a full-service spa on site. The finished property balances contemporary luxury with the area’s deep-rooted history.
The Albert Hotel now welcomes visitors to downtown Fredericksburg. Its mix of preserved landmarks and modern amenities offers a unique stay. The project also keeps the Keidel family’s legacy alive in the heart of the town.
