Fireblocks launches blockchain payments system for AI agents
Fireblocks has unveiled a new payments system designed for AI agents. The Agentic Payments Suite allows artificial intelligence tools to send and receive funds securely on the blockchain. At the same time, the company has joined a growing effort to standardise how AI systems handle transactions.
The move comes as major tech firms begin integrating blockchain payments into AI operations, with Amazon Web Services already adopting a similar protocol for its own agents. The Agentic Payments Suite provides a full set of tools for AI-driven financial transactions. It includes secure wallets for agents to send funds, merchant acceptance layers for receiving payments, and built-in compliance features. Fireblocks has also added settlement tools to help regulated institutions manage AI payments safely.
In a related step, the company confirmed its membership in the x402 Foundation. This group supports Coinbase’s x402 protocol, which aims to create a standard way for AI agents to process payments. Amazon Web Services recently integrated the same protocol into its Bedrock AgentCore system, letting AI agents transact using USDC.
Meanwhile, another firm, Oobit, launched a Visa-backed virtual card for AI agents. The card enables automated purchases using USDT, giving businesses a new way to accept payments from AI systems. These developments signal a push toward smoother, blockchain-based transactions for artificial intelligence. Fireblocks’ new suite covers every stage of AI agent payments, from wallet setup to compliance checks. With companies like Amazon and Oobit also adopting AI payment solutions, the technology is gaining traction. The x402 protocol now has wider industry support, setting a foundation for standardised AI transactions in the future.
