Drunk driver caught on A1 motorway with unregistered, uninsured car

A 34-year-old man from Essen was stopped by police on the A1 motorway near Emstek. Officers quickly discovered multiple serious violations, including drunk driving and an unregistered vehicle without insurance. The incident began when police pulled over the driver during a routine check. A breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol level of 2.12 per mille—far above the legal limit. Authorities also confirmed he had no valid driver’s licence.

A blood sample was taken for further testing. Investigations showed the car was neither registered nor insured, breaking compulsory insurance laws. Prosecutors have now launched an official investigation. The man faces charges for driving without a licence, drunk driving, and failing to meet insurance requirements.

The case will proceed through legal channels, with potential penalties for the driver. Police have impounded the vehicle due to its lack of registration and insurance. The investigation remains ongoing.
