Driver loses control on icy A2 motorway with summer tyres fitted
A 26-year-old man from Eisenach was driving his Opel on the A2 motorway toward Hanover at around 3:35 p.m. Between the Oelde and Herzebrock-Clarholz junctions, he noticed a traffic jam too late and swerved to the right to avoid colliding with another car. Due to slippery road conditions, the Opel skidded off the right side of the road into the green verge. During the accident investigation, police determined that the vehicle was fitted with summer tires only.
A tow truck removed the car, which was no longer drivable. The incident caused approximately €3,000 in property damage.
Police remind drivers: Adjust your speed and driving style to match weather conditions! Make sure to fit winter tires or all-season tires with sufficient tread depth in time!
