Documentary seeks untold stories of young Alexander Mikhailov in Vladivostok
A federal TV channel is producing a documentary about Alexander Mikhailov, the renowned People’s Artist of the RSFSR. The filmmakers are now searching for people who knew him during his early years in Vladivostok.
The project aims to gather personal stories, rare photographs, and details from his time at sea and as a student. The documentary team wants to speak with anyone who crossed paths with Mikhailov between 1961 and 1963. They are particularly interested in sailors who worked alongside him on the diesel-electric ships Yaroslavl and Kurgan. These vessels were part of his early career before he turned to the arts.
They are also seeking former classmates from the Far Eastern Pedagogical Institute of the Arts, Theater Faculty. Mikhailov studied there from 1965 to 1969, and the crew hopes to find those who remember his student days.
In addition, the filmmakers welcome any preserved materials linked to his youth. This includes old performance programmes, personal photographs, or even anecdotes from his time in Vladivostok. The documentary will piece together Mikhailov’s formative years through firsthand accounts and archival finds. Those with information can contribute to preserving the early life of one of Russia’s celebrated artists. The team has not yet announced a release date for the film.
