Depeche Mode will soon premiere a new live-action movie to entertain their fans.

Depeche Mode fans are in for a surprise this fall as the British electronic duo is set to release a new concert film titled "Depeche Mode: M". The film, based on live performances from the band's 2023-2024 Memento Mori Tour in Mexico City, will be shown in over 2,500 cinemas across 60 countries, starting on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

Directed by acclaimed Mexican filmmaker Fernando Frías, known for his award-winning work on I'm No Longer Here, the film promises to be more than just a concert experience. It is described as an "expressive and dynamic cinematic journey" that blends live performances with thematic explorations of music, mortality, and Mexican cultural traditions around death.

The concert footage was captured during Depeche Mode's three sold-out shows at Mexico City's Foro Sol Stadium. The film premiered earlier in 2025 at the Tribeca Festival, receiving positive responses. Singer Dave Gahan praises the work of Mexican director Fernando Friás de la Parra, calling it "truly wonderful."

The film connects the themes of Depeche Mode’s Memento Mori album (Latin for "remember that you must die") and Mexican reflections on mortality, amplified by the 2022 death of founding member Andy Fletcher. This adds a spiritual and cultural depth to the performances, making the film a culturally rich, artistic tribute linking the band’s music to Mexican traditions and universal themes of life and death.

The film delves into the music and Mexican culture, exploring the theme of impermanence. It is likely to feature popular songs from Depeche Mode's "Memento Mori" album. Tickets for the theatrical event go on sale starting September 17, 2025, via the official website.

In a statement, Sony Music Entertainment describes the film as an "intense musical and spiritual journey". The film is not just a concert film but a tribute to the timeless, multicultural impact of Depeche Mode, demonstrating the profound connection between music, impermanence, and Mexican tradition.
