Don Ramón from El Chavo del 8 gets his own live-action series
A new live-action series centred on Don Ramón, the beloved character from El Chavo del 8, is now in development. The announcement comes just after Chespirito: Sin Querer Queriendo won the Platino Audience Award for Best Miniseries. Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed the project as part of an expanding Chespirito universe.
Jorge Tijerina, Director of Fiction Content Development for Warner Bros. Discovery Mexico and Colombia, revealed the plans for the Don Ramón series. The show will follow the same creative team behind the recent Roberto Gómez Bolaños bioseries, which has already earned critical acclaim.
The new production marks the second expansion of the Chespirito universe after *Los Colorado*, an animated spin-off. However, details remain limited, including whether Miguel Islas—known for his work in similar projects—will be involved. The series is still in its early stages, with no confirmed release date yet. Meanwhile, *Chespirito: Sin Querer Queriendo* continues its success at the Platino Awards. After winning the Audience Award, it will compete tonight for the top prize in its category. The miniseries faces strong contenders, including *Las Muertas*, *El Eternauta*, and *Anatomy of a Moment*.
The Don Ramón series will bring another iconic character from El Chavo del 8 to modern audiences. With the creative team from the award-winning bioseries at the helm, expectations are high. Fans will have to wait for further updates as the project takes shape.
