Depeche Mode will be launching a new live movie
Depeche Mode, the renowned British electronic duo, is set to release a new concert film titled "Depeche Mode: M" this fall. The film, which delves into the music and Mexican culture, is slated for release in cinemas and IMAX worldwide on October 28, 2025.
Tickets for this highly anticipated event will go on sale starting September 17, 2025, through the film's official website. The film will be screened in over 2,500 cinemas in more than 60 countries, offering audiences an immersive musical and spiritual experience.
The film documents Depeche Mode’s three sold-out 2023 shows at Mexico City's Foro Sol Stadium (formerly Estadio Gnp Seguros) during their 2023-2024 Memento Mori tour. It is directed by acclaimed Mexican filmmaker Fernando Frías de la Parra, known for I’m No Longer Here and I Don’t Expect Anyone to Believe Me.
Frías de la Parra blends live concert footage with deeper thematic elements tied to Mexican cultural traditions surrounding death and mortality—themes aligned with the Memento Mori album and tour. The film premiered earlier at the 2025 Tribeca Festival to positive reviews.
The release of "Depeche Mode: M" is a collaboration between Sony Music Vision and Trafalgar Releasing. Singer Dave Gahan praised the work of Mexican director Fernando Friás de la Parra, calling it "truly wonderful."
The film is not a conventional concert documentary but an expressive cinematic journey intersecting live performances with cultural reflections on mortality, honoring both the band’s legacy and Mexican tradition. It demonstrates the profound connection between music, impermanence, and Mexican tradition, according to the statement from Sony Music Entertainment.
The film is expected to take audiences on an intense musical and spiritual journey, offering a unique perspective on Depeche Mode's music and its enduring influence on culture and mortality.
