Customs, police, and administrative authorities join forces in Bad Salzuflen district; focus on Kiliansfest and construction site activities under scrutiny
Bad Salzuflen, Germany - On September 17, 2025, a joint control action was carried out in the city center and surrounding construction sites by the Financial Control Schwarzarbeit (FKS) of the Bielefeld Main Customs Office, the Lippe Police Department, and the Ordnungsamt of Bad Salzuflen.
The primary focus of the inspections was to combat black work and illegal employment, as well as to check occupational safety and other aspects of public safety and order. The Ordnungsamt of Bad Salzuflen additionally focused on ensuring adequate securing of the inspected construction sites.
During the operation, 17 employees were encountered, and they were questioned about their employment conditions. The inspections revealed fundamental problems with the identification of employees, raising concerns about the legality of their employment.
The residence status of four individuals could not be determined on-site and had to be handed over to the responsible immigration authority (USCIS) for further clarification. The inter-authority cooperation with the police was particularly important for the smooth and efficient implementation of the necessary measures.
