Canton Fair 2026 merges heritage crafts with global innovation and demand

The 139th Canton Fair wrapped up in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, after running from April 23 to May 5, 2026. This year’s event highlighted traditional craftsmanship, with companies blending heritage techniques into modern products for global buyers. The fair opened with robot-assisted Yingge dance performances and traditional dragon-lion dances. Among the exhibitors, Guangzhou Guxiou Leather Goods Co. stood out by merging Chaozhou porcelain inlay with contemporary handbag designs. Their ICH-inspired series attracted strong interest, securing orders from Italy, Hungary, and Spain—each style averaging around 400 pieces. A Brazilian buyer noted the bags’ cultural richness and lasting impression.

The company also capitalised on the global popularity of the film *Dear You*, drawing new inquiries from Southeast Asian clients. They are now collaborating with a Singaporean fashion brand to promote Lingnan ICH aesthetics worldwide. Elsewhere, a Chengdu-based firm presented products inspired by Xinfan palm leaf weaving, while Guangzhou Textile Industry & Trade Holding unveiled a line of creative goods featuring Guangdong Embroidery. The fair also marked the debut of Shunde’s Daliang fish lantern as an industrialised ICH application zone.

The Canton Fair reinforced the appeal of Chinese cultural heritage in global markets. Companies like Guangzhou Guxiou Leather Goods Co. expanded their international reach through partnerships and fresh designs. Traditional crafts, from embroidery to porcelain inlay, continue to find new commercial success.
