Broncos secure Burnham Yard for futuristic Denver stadium by 2031

The Denver Broncos have taken a major step forward in their plans for a new stadium. The team has finalised a deal to buy Burnham Yard, a decommissioned railyard in central Denver. This purchase moves them closer to building a modern NFL venue with a retractable roof by 2031. The Broncos have been sharing their vision with the public since September 2022 through community open houses. Their plan now includes a formal agreement with the Colorado Department of Transportation, though further deals with Denver Water and other partners remain unfinished.

The 58-acre site sits just off I-25, between 6th and 13th avenues. Beyond the stadium, the development will feature shops, restaurants, entertainment spaces, housing, and offices. The Broncos also intend to turn the area into a multi-modal transportation hub.

Closing on the land purchase is expected this autumn. Despite the remaining steps, the team remains confident about meeting their 2031 target for completion. The project marks a significant investment in Denver’s infrastructure and urban growth. Once complete, the site will host not just NFL games but a mix of commercial, residential, and transport facilities. The Broncos continue to work through the final agreements needed to bring the plan to life.
