Brock Lindow, former member of the band 36 Crazyfists, found renewed passion for music thanks to his collaboration with the band Paradise Slaves. Despite his initial intentions to halt his musical career.
In the world of heavy music, Brock Lindow, the former vocalist of 36 Crazyfists, has made a bold move by forming a new band called Paradise Slaves. The band, which features past and present members of Diecast and drummer Ryan Manning, released their debut album, "With Hell In His Eyes," on May 2, 2025.
Lindow's new venture marks a departure from his past, yet carries a familiar sound. The music of Paradise Slaves is influenced by New England metal bands such as Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Unearth, and All That Remains, bands that Lindow has a history of collaborating with. However, Paradise Slaves leans towards hard rock and aims to be more melodic, a conscious effort made by Lindow to avoid repeating himself.
The formation of Paradise Slaves came about in 2021, when Lindow flew out to Massachusetts to hang out with his new bandmates. This was shortly after 36 Crazyfists announced their breakup, although they had played their final show on December 6, 2019, celebrating their 25th anniversary at Chilkoot Charlie’s in Anchorage, Alaska. Lindow, who was burned out from touring, expressed that he wanted to focus on being a dad, contributing to the band's decision to discontinue their activities.
One of the personal compositions on With Hell In His Eyes is Dreamers, inspired by the difficulties Lindow and his wife faced due to immigration issues. This thumping, emotionally charged anthem, reminiscent of Slit Wrist Theory or Time And Trauma, showcases Lindow's unique voice, a significant factor in the sound of Paradise Slaves, which resembles that of 36 Crazyfists.
Lindow was approached by Joel Stroetzel, the guitarist of Killswitch Engage, to contribute to a new album in 2021. This collaboration may hint at potential future collaborations for Paradise Slaves, adding to the excitement surrounding the band's debut.
As for 36 Crazyfists, Steve Holt, a member of the band, confirmed in December 2023 that there was nothing going on in the band now or in the future. Lindow's departure from 36 Crazyfists and the formation of Paradise Slaves marks a new chapter in his musical journey, one that promises to bring fresh, melodic heavy music to fans.
