Brandon Lockridge's season in jeopardy after brutal outfield wall collision
Milwaukee outfielder Brandon Lockridge suffered a serious knee injury during a game after colliding with the outfield wall. The incident forced him off the field on a cart, and the team has now placed him on the 10-day injured list. His replacement, Blake Perkins, will rejoin the major league squad just days after being demoted. The injury happened as Lockridge sprinted to chase a foul ball. His right knee struck the lower part of the side wall, where padding was absent. He was immediately carted off the field and taken for medical evaluation.
Initial X-rays confirmed no fracture, but doctors found a deep laceration and severe swelling. Despite the setback, Lockridge has enjoyed a strong season so far, batting .294 with a .368 on-base percentage in 28 games. To fill the roster gap, Milwaukee recalled Blake Perkins from Triple-A Nashville. Perkins, who struggled earlier this season, holds a .109 batting average and a .212 on-base percentage across 19 games with the team.
Lockridge’s recovery timeline remains unclear, though the team will monitor his swelling and laceration closely. Perkins, meanwhile, gets another chance in the majors after a brief stint in the minors. The move comes as Milwaukee adjusts to the sudden loss of one of its most consistent hitters this season.
