Brandenburg basks in record-breaking Pentecost heatwave with 29°C highs

Brandenburg has enjoyed a warm Pentecost weekend, with temperatures climbing to 29°C. The hottest spot was Lenzen on the Elbe River, where thermometers hit 29.4°C. Authorities have also issued reminders for visitors to protect the region’s natural areas.

Over the long weekend, many headed to Brandenburg’s lakes, where water temperatures sat between 18–19°C. Officials in Potsdam asked people to respect nature reserves by taking their litter home. Swimmers were also told to use only marked entry points along the shores.

The warm spell is set to continue. Pentecost Monday will bring more summer heat, with highs of 25–29°C across the state. Far southern Brandenburg may see isolated thunderstorms on Sunday, but the rest of the region should stay dry. By Tuesday, temperatures could peak at 31°C in the southern areas. The prolonged warmth follows a weekend where many enjoyed outdoor activities under sunny skies.

The heatwave is expected to last into the coming week, with temperatures staying well above average. Visitors are reminded to follow local guidelines to keep natural sites clean and safe. The forecast suggests little relief from the summer conditions in the near term.
