Boston's New Mojo Festival Promises 10 Hours of Live Music in May 2023
A new music festival is coming to Boston in May 2023. The Mojo Boston Musical Festival will take place at City Hall Plaza on Tuesday, May 9, with organisers expecting around 8,000 attendees. The event aims to bring a fresh, back-to-basics approach to live music in the city. The festival will run for 10 hours across two stages, featuring a mix of live performances. Food trucks will also be on site, offering a variety of options for visitors.
Mojo was founded by Charley Blacker, Alex Parker, and Emily Donovan, who want to revive the simplicity of traditional music festivals. Their previous events have included performances by New Bedford-based band Morrissey Boulevard. Funding for the festival has come from sponsorship deals and ticket sales from earlier Mojo events. Andrew Galvin, Director of Communication and Community Outreach for Erin Murphy, described the festival as a major moment for Boston since the original Boston Calling. The founders believe it will not only succeed but also bring wider benefits to the city.
The Mojo Boston Musical Festival will offer a full day of music, food, and entertainment. Organisers have secured funding and support, setting the stage for what they hope will become a key event in the city’s cultural calendar. Around 8,000 people are expected to attend.
