Boston Welcomes Forward, a Bold New Dance Showcase This May
A new dance production is coming to Boston this May. Forward, presented by Lam Dance Works, will run at the Paramount Center on the 15th and 16th. The show includes six fresh works—three world premieres and three Boston debuts. Lam Dance Works was founded by John Lam, a former principal dancer with Boston Ballet. After two decades with the company, he also taught as an associate professor at Boston Conservatory. His goal is simple: connect conservatory training with the demands of professional dance.
The non-profit group features a rotating cast of performers and choreographers. Demetris Michaelides, a third-year student at Boston Conservatory, is part of this production. He served as rehearsal director for *Forward*, following the company’s debut last November. Lam is also working with Boston Public Schools. His outreach teaches students about the practical side of live performances, from staging to lighting.
Forward marks another step for Lam Dance Works in its first full year. The performances will showcase new talent alongside established names. Tickets are now available for the two-night event at the Paramount Center.
