Doman's Q1 2026 earnings dip slightly despite stronger margins and dividends

Doman Building Materials Group Ltd. has released its financial results for the first quarter of 2026. The company saw a slight dip in revenue and earnings compared to the same period last year. Despite this, gross margins improved, and a dividend was paid to shareholders in April. The company reported consolidated revenues of $762.0 million for Q1 2026, down from $793.2 million in 2025. The drop was mainly due to lower pricing in some construction materials categories, which make up 83% of Doman’s sales. Specialty and allied products contributed 14%, while other sources accounted for the remaining 3%.

Gross margin dollars fell to $129.5 million from $132.5 million in the previous year. However, the gross margin percentage rose slightly to 17.0%, up from 16.7% in 2025. Net earnings also saw a minor increase, reaching $23.9 million compared to $23.6 million in Q1 2025. EBITDA for the quarter stood at $68.1 million, a decrease from $70.0 million in 2025. The company also declared a dividend of $0.14 per share, which was paid on April 15, 2026. Amar S. Doman, Chairman of the Board, acknowledged the volatility and uncertainty in pricing as the company moves further into 2026.

Doman’s Q1 2026 results show a mixed performance, with higher margins but lower overall revenue. The company continues to rely heavily on construction materials, while maintaining steady earnings and shareholder returns. The outlook for the rest of the year remains cautious due to market instability.
