Snow in April: Uninvited but Here—Minsk Region and Beyond

April snow wasn't on the guest list, yet it swept through Minsk Region anyway. Here's what a reader from Onlainer sent from the village of Kvasynichi in Slutsk District: fresh spring greenery blanketed in white.

Meanwhile, in the village of Turets in Korelichy District (Grodno Region), the snow cover is even thicker.

Another shot from the same district—this time, the urban settlement of Korelichy—courtesy of another reader.

How much longer will this chaos last? Forecasters say at least until Thursday. Strong winds will persist until Tuesday morning before finally dying down. Daytime temperatures are set to plummet by a staggering 11 degrees, ranging from a chilly 2°C to a mere 10°C. With minor fluctuations, they'll hover between 5°C and 13°C at least through Thursday. Nights will bring wild swings—anywhere from –4°C to +4°C—all while snow and rain take turns in the background.

Time to dig out the mittens, puffers, and winter hats from the back of the closet.
