The 87th Coupe de Noël took place in Geneva over the weekend, drawing thousands of swimmers to the chilly waters of Lake Geneva. For the first time, Olympic athletes Charlotte Bonnet and Jeremy Desplanches joined as both patrons and participants in the festive Christmas swim.

Around 4,200 swimmers braved the cold for the annual event. The first 3,700 took the plunge on Saturday, when the lake’s temperature measured a brisk 8.71°C. Participants entered the water in groups of about 25, with some donning festive costumes for the occasion.

The event continued on Sunday, marking another successful edition of the long-running tradition. Bonnet and Desplanches, known for their Olympic careers, added a new level of excitement as they swam alongside amateur participants.

The Coupe de Noël once again proved its popularity, with record numbers turning out despite the cold conditions. The inclusion of Olympic swimmers as patrons and participants brought fresh attention to the 87-year-old event.
